January 15, 2008 My host family #1

This is my first host family. From the left is Dr. Satish Ihkal, his wife Dr. Vani Ikhal, me, Satish's mother and his father.
Satish and Vani own the hospital next to the house here and they have been happily married for 8 years and have one son who is 4 years old. They have all been very kind to me and very helpful in sharing their culture. I really am going to miss them when I go to my next hosts in Belgaum tomorrow.

Interesting that the men are wearing more Westernized clothing. Glad you're having fun :) Looks like quite an education.

I noticed in the pictures that your not wearing shoes. Is it their custom to go barefoot, or is this a sign of respect to remove your shoes at the door? Don't forget to bring some biscuits home with you for us to try.

So far it looks like you are having a great time, eating, shopping, eating, sight seeing, eating. Is that all everyone does over there???

So how did speaking in front of 1200 people go??

Hi Misty. What a fantastic adventure you are having. It is awesome to see your comments and pictures.... like we are peeking in on you, lol. Do I see a red dot on your forehead???? I think that means you're available. This is so exciting, I am sharing your site with some of my friends who know you. Enjoy every minute. Have not seen you available yet on skype. We'll keep up with you.
